A new armored personnel carrier (APC) from Ukrainian firm MAC HUB combines mine-resistant protection, remote firepower, and battlefield awareness features in a single platform.

Known as the OWL-APC, the vehicle is equipped with a domestically built remotely controlled weapon station, blast protection designed to withstand anti-tank landmines, and AI-based systems.

One key feature is the Tavria 14.5/7.62 combat module, which combines a 14.5mm KPVT heavy machine gun with a 7.62mm PKT machine gun.

Designed for modern combat environments, the platform uses a redesigned monocoque hull and reinforced materials to improve mobility, survivability, and ease of maintenance.

To protect its crew, the OWL-APC features a full V-shaped hull that redirects blast energy away from the vehicle when a mine detonates underneath.

According to MAC HUB, the design also reduces the impact of explosive shock waves on personnel inside the vehicle.

The interior is fitted with a composite spall liner combined with 16mm main armor to help absorb shrapnel from artillery explosions within a 25-meter (82-foot) radius.

A 360-degree virtual reality system paired with night vision allows the driver to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings in real time without leaving the armored hull.

Preparing for Deployment

After completing its testing cycle, MAC HUB is expanding the OWL platform into a broader family of military vehicles, including the MAC OWL armored variant.

The company said the OWL-APC will soon enter service with Ukraine’s Defense Forces but did not disclose delivery timelines or planned production numbers.

“The OWL family is becoming a scalable military vehicle platform, offering different configurations to meet a wide range of operational requirements,” the company stated.

“We are grateful to the defenders of Ukraine for the opportunity to develop solutions that strengthen our defense, and to our partners for their trust, support, and cooperation.”
