Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is entering a new phase of technological innovation with the Defender Wolf Series II, a next-generation light mobility vehicle (LMV) built for challenging environments.

The vehicle will be available in four variants: tactical mobility, general mobility, ambulance, and utility.

Built on the company’s D7x architecture, the Wolf Series II uses monocoque construction and is designed to transport personnel and equipment across demanding terrain.

JLR is positioning the vehicle as a modern successor to the original Defender Wolf under the UK Ministry of Defence’s Light Mobility Vehicle tender.

The company has also established a dedicated Defender Defence Division to support the requirements of the UK and other defense customers.

“The Defender Wolf Series II is our next-generation military vehicle. British-designed and engineered, with pioneering off-road technologies and an engine built in Wolverhampton,” said Patrick McGillycuddy, managing director of Defender.

The four variants will be showcased at the British Army’s DVD 2026 event on September 16 and 17.

Shaped by 62,000 Tests

JLR reportedly conducted more than 62,000 tests during development to assess the vehicle’s design and performance.

Its chassis and body architecture were also engineered to withstand the company’s Extreme Event Test procedure.

“Our Defender Wolf Series II has been tested to the extreme and is highly suited to military light mobility purposes,” McGillycuddy added.

“Defender already demonstrates its versatility in tough roles for emergency organizations around the world, such as border force, mountain rescue, police, and fire.”
