AeroVironment (AV) has unveiled “AV_Halo,” a next-gen software platform that unifies its suite of mission-ready tools into a single, open-standards ecosystem.

Designed to be hardware-agnostic, the software integrates command and control, AI-driven analysis, synthetic training, and autonomous targeting across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.

It is engineered to operate with allied military and commercial battle management systems, offering what AV calls a “cost-efficient path” to multi-domain interoperability.

At its core, AV_Halo merges the company’s autonomous systems, precision munitions, and integrated software stack under a “detect-decide-deliver” framework. Meaning, it can sense a target, decide the best response, and carry out the action seamlessly across platforms.

“AV_Halo leverages the large portfolio of AV’s software suite of applications in one common software core, integrating our rapid product development process to accelerate innovation, interoperability, and deployment,” said Scott Bowman, AV Chief Technology Officer.

“For mission planning or mission command, for mounted or dismounted operations, for training or for frontlines, AV_Halo wraps around all platforms and provides the flexibility and speed necessary to meet the challenges of tomorrow, today.”

Core Functions

The initial rollout of AV_Halo brings together three core modules: AV_Halo Command, AV_Halo Vision, and AV_Halo Pinpoint.

AV_Halo Command provides battle management for unmanned vehicles, fusing AI-enhanced sensor feeds, telemetry, and environmental data into a secure operating picture.

It also links the company’s Kinesis universal control architecture, VigilantHalo user interface, and sensor fusion engine, enabling theater-wide coordination of fixed, mobile, or distributed assets.

AV_Halo Vision equips platforms with real-time computer vision and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) tools, even in GPS-denied environments.

It combines AV’s vision software with AI and machine learning modules to provide persistent autonomous targeting.

Meanwhile, AV_Halo Pinpoint focuses on precision target acquisition and tracking for offensive radio frequency and laser payloads.

It provides the core capability that allows the Locust laser weapon system and Titan counter-drone products to operate effectively, supporting ISR, loitering, and strike missions.
