US firm Aitech is targeting faster data connectivity between computing, sensor, and communications systems on military platforms with its new U-C6850 Ethernet switch/router.
The device serves as a high-speed networking backbone for connecting compute resources, sensors, and communications systems.
It can handle up to 320 gigabits per second of traffic and supports configurations with up to eight 40-gigabit Ethernet or 32 10-gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
Key features include integrated security, fast boot across all supported protocols, and IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) for network time synchronization.

For operation in harsh environments, the U-C6850 also includes built-in health monitoring to track internal power, temperature, and operating hours.
Aitech said the system combines high bandwidth, dense port configurations, and low power consumption to meet size, weight, power, and cost requirements for military platforms.
Easing Platform Modernization
The U-C6850 is built around the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and aligned with the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) standard.
This allows the switch to be integrated into existing aircraft, ground vehicles, and naval platforms while supporting upgrades without requiring extensive redesigns or major changes to the underlying systems.
“By enabling seamless integration into open architectures, the U-C6850 helps customers… accelerate technology insertion and reduce lifecycle risks associated with proprietary systems,” said Alex Trigoub, product manager at Aitech.
