Allen Control Systems is taking aim at one of the battlefield’s fastest-moving problems: small, hard-to-spot drones.

In recent tests, the company’s new AI-powered visual detection system called SearchCam was paired with the Bullfrog machine gun, showing how the combination can turn conventional weapons into precision counter-drone solutions.

Equipped with 16 cameras, the device reportedly detected and tracked targets before automatically cueing the turret for engagement.

An internal threat library also allowed it to identify threats automatically, significantly cutting reaction times in fast-moving drone engagements.

By using passive detection, SearchCam serves as a stealthy alternative to active radars, keeping its presence undetected while maintaining full situational awareness.

Bullfrog Meets Its ‘Eye’

SearchCam is a standalone, all-purpose defense tool optimized for Group 1-2 unmanned aircraft systems, including first-person view drones and drone swarms.

It uses an open architecture and works with common military command-and-control networks, making it easy to integrate into existing operations.

Meanwhile, Bullfrog is an autonomous, vehicle-mounted turret that neutralizes drones using machine guns or other non-lethal countermeasures.

It weighs 165 pounds (75 kilograms) without ammunition and has a maximum strike range of 800 meters (2,625 feet).

Together, SearchCam and Bullfrog bring rapid, precise counter-drone defense, safeguarding vehicles, formations, and critical sites from emerging aerial threats.
