Frontline artillery operations may soon move faster and with greater accuracy, thanks to BAE Systems’ next-gen digital fire control system.

Built on an open architecture, the capability can be integrated across a wide range of artillery platforms while supporting future upgrades without requiring changes to existing equipment.

Developed around a UK baseline configuration, the system also allows operators to connect sensors, command networks, and effectors into a single ecosystem.

This approach is intended to reduce the time between detecting a target and delivering fire by streamlining how data is processed and shared across the network.

“Modern conflict demands the ability to sense, decide, and act at speed,” said John Borton, managing director of BAE Systems Weapon Systems UK.

“Our new system has been developed to help armed forces accelerate the delivery of fires […]. It provides the foundation for a more integrated and responsive fire capability where it matters most.”

Rapid Processing

The system rapidly processes target information from forward observers and generates firing data within the command post.

According to BAE, this enables accurate gun laying and orientation while allowing new sensors and mission assets to be integrated as operational requirements evolve.

The capability was presented at the Eurosatory 2026 in Paris.
