Silvus Technologies is expanding its footprint in the electromagnetic domain with the launch of a handheld sensor designed to enhance warfighters’ situational awareness in contested environments.

Called the FASST 6000 Spectrum Sensor, the system is built for on-the-move signals intelligence (SIGINT) and rapid deployment of radio frequency (RF) sensing networks.

At its core is Filtering by Aliasing Spectrum Sensing Technology (FASST), a signal processing method that enables scanning rates up to 144.5 terahertz per second.

By minimizing delays seen in conventional sensors, the system reportedly enables faster detection across frequencies ranging from one megahertz to six gigahertz.

FASST uses a synchronized antenna array to help operators pinpoint the direction of brief, faint, or intermittent signals that traditional sensors often miss.

It also features integrated Internet Protocol networking and Universal Serial Bus interfaces, along with onboard processing and low power consumption of 17 watts.

Real-Time Detection

The FASST 6000 is intended to quickly pick up RF signals, record them, and determine where they are coming from.

When connected through a StreamCaster MANET network using at least three sensors, the system can work across nodes to pinpoint signal locations collaboratively.

This provides operators with visibility into both friendly and adversary emissions across the battlefield.

The system is available as a rugged handheld unit for dismounted personnel or as an original equipment manufacturer module for unmanned aerial, ground, or maritime platforms.

The FASST 6000 was showcased at the Modern Day Marine event in Washington, DC.
