Spanish defense giant Indra has developed a next-generation, fully digital self-protection suite for military aircraft and helicopters.
The suite is designed to reduce missile detection time and improve response speed against incoming threats.
It will offer full-spectrum detection of radar and laser-guided missiles, alongside a directed infrared countermeasure system that defends against ground-to-air attacks.
Flare dispensers will also help mislead heat-seeking missiles, while chaff disorients radio-guided munitions.
Modular by design, the digital suite can be adjusted to fit the needs of different aircraft types. Indra has previously delivered similar tech to fighter jets, transport planes, and rotary-wing aircraft.

According to the company, the design phase and production of the first units are now complete, with integration and delivery projected to begin later this year.
Modernizing Self-Protection Systems
The suite’s fully digital architecture places Indra among a select group of firms offering a complete alternative to analog and hybrid self-protection systems.
It scans the entire radar spectrum simultaneously, improving reaction times and offering broader situational awareness.
A fully digital setup also streamlines future upgrades and supports integration with AI-based tools, features that help keep air-based platforms relevant as other advanced platforms emerge.
