Danish firm Odense Maritime Technology (OMT) is pitching a new concept for an “all-around” family of naval vessels, presenting four designs capable of handling a wide range of missions.

The lineup begins with the “85 Coast Guard,” an offshore patrol vessel built for surveillance. Its large mission deck can accommodate a 3D radar or up to 11 container-sized mission modules.

Its combat-focused counterpart, the “85 Naval,” comes with a deck gun and a drone lift connected to its mission bay. It swaps the space of three containers for a helicopter deck, which can also be exchanged for anti-ship missile launchers or a vertical launch system.

Beyond the 85-class vessels, the “110 Naval” steps in as a larger surface combatant, with the company’s Naval Products Director Klaus Sørensen describing it as “slower than a corvette, [but as] lethal as a frigate.”

Its arsenal includes anti-ship munitions, torpedoes, and a 57mm main gun, complemented by a 15-ton flight deck, hull-mounted sonar, a 12-meter (39-foot) stern ramp, and room for over 26 container-sized mission modules.

Finally, leveraging Danish Arctic Patrol Vessel experience, the “120 Naval Polar” is a modular ship design tailored for operations in extreme cold conditions.

‘Mix-and-Match’

OMT said all four vessel concepts were made with modularity in mind, allowing customers to plug different sensors, weapons, and mission systems according to their needs.

The designations reportedly reflect each vessel’s length in meters.

As an in-house project, the company said the 85-series vessels can be delivered within two years of order, while the 110 and 120 ships could be produced even faster due to their more mature designs.
