Croatian robotics firm DOK-ING and Slovenia’s Valhalla have joined forces on a next-gen ground robotic system that blends unmanned mobility with short-range air defense.

Unveiled at the SIDEC defense exhibition, the new setup integrates DOK-ING’s MV-8 Komodo robotic platform with Valhalla’s Mangart 25 AD remote-controlled turret.

The platform supports counter-unmanned aerial systems, combat support, and anti-armor missions, offering mobile protection while reducing risk to personnel.

Built for mobility, survivability, and modular payload integration, it can be reconfigured for very short-range air defense, counter-mobility tasks, and CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive) operations.

“We have once again demonstrated our high level of technological development and readiness to recognize the needs of the market,” stated Gordan Pešić, CEO of DOK-ING.

“This partnership also represents recognition for both Croatia and Slovenia, whose institutions have shown great support for this project.”

From Minefields to Battlefields

Originally developed for hazardous engineering and demining missions, the MV-8 Komodo is a modular, heavily protected vehicle built for off-road endurance and high-risk conditions.

It can take a range of demanding missions, including forward base protection, route clearance, and remote security tasks.

The vehicle’s autonomous control allows human operators to oversee and coordinate multiple systems from a distance, aligning with the military’s shift toward networked and unmanned defense operations.

Autonomous Firepower

Defining the new Komodo’s combat edge is Valhalla’s Mangart 25 AD, a short-range air defense and multi-mission turret.

It integrates a Rheinmetall 25mm KBA autocannon, two MBDA missile launchers, a HENSOLDT Spexer radar, and a SAFRAN Paseo electro-optical sensor suite.

The autocannon has been optimized for unmanned use, offering a high rate of fire and reduced recoil for taking down aerial threats with improved precision.

The turret can carry 400 rounds of 25x137mm ammunition.

Valhalla stated that the Mangart 25 AD can operate on the move or in static positions, and link with other vehicles for layered defense.
