Aselsan is reshaping how standard bombs strike targets as its Winged Guidance Kit-84 (KGK-84) achieved a direct hit during its first F-16 live drop.
The kit followed predetermined waypoints to reach a naval target and destroy it with notable accuracy.
Video footage showed the guidance kit detaching from the aircraft and traveling long distances, highlighting a potential shift from expensive precision munitions to adaptable, lower-cost strike options.

“Our guidance kits … have once again confirmed the Turkish defense industry’s determination and technological competence in the field,” Turkish Defense Industry Secretary Haluk Görgün said, as quoted by state-run Anadolu Agency.
“These successes are the concrete outputs of our vision to produce our own technology and gain global competitive power with national solutions, which we have pursued with determination for years.”
Long-Range ‘Game-Changer’
The KGK-84 can carry 1-ton munitions, including general-purpose and bunker-buster bombs, over 100 kilometers (62 miles).
Integrated GPS guidance and anti-jamming systems allow operations in all weather conditions, day or night.
Aselsan Chief Executive Officer Ahmet Akyol described it as a “game-changer” in Turkey’s striking power and attack capabilities.
“In a manner suitable for the modern conflict environment; we will continue to develop more long-range, higher accuracy, and more cost-effective solutions,” he stressed.
