Canada is making anti-submarine warfare (ASW) tight and compact, packing a warship’s underwater detection and tracking capabilities inside a 20-foot (6-meter) container.
Dartmouth-based Ultra Maritime has developed Sea Tracker, a system that delivers frigate-grade submarine hunting from a standard ISO container.
It integrates the company’s torpedo defense systems, sonar arrays, and surveillance sensors into a single, coordinated network.
Its scalable design reportedly lets naval units detect, track, and engage even highly stealthy submarines across a range of platforms.

Sea Tracker can also operate from uncrewed or lightly crewed vessels, enhancing situational awareness in contested maritime regions.
The Undersea Threat Picture
Sea Tracker arrives at a time when naval forces are increasingly deploying fast, modern assets like nuclear submarines.
These platforms pose dual challenges: high strike capability and near-invisibility while gathering intelligence.
By putting warship-grade ASW capabilities in a compact, transportable form, the system allows units to respond to underwater threats without the need for specialized frigates.
“With continued investment in advanced technologies, Ultra Maritime remains dedicated to delivering best-in-class solutions that provide navies with the agility, adaptability and strategic advantage needed to dominate the underwater domain,” the company stated.
