Wingcopter is stretching the reach of tactical reconnaissance with a new German drone built for areas that conventional aircraft struggle to cover.

The “Wingcopter 262” is an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) drone capable of covering up to 150 kilometers (93 miles) in a single deployment.

It can stay in the air for up to six hours, allowing it to provide persistent surveillance over remote or difficult-to-reach areas.

The aircraft incorporates AI-powered electro-optical/infrared sensors and positioning technology reportedly proven in combat environments such as Ukraine, enabling operations under GNSS-denied conditions.

A single operator can set up the Wingcopter 262 within minutes, while its VTOL design eliminates the need for dedicated launch infrastructure.

Built around an open architecture, the drone can also connect with existing battle management systems and potentially shift from reconnaissance to strike missions.

Reinforcing Ukrainian Forces

The Wingcopter 262 arrives alongside the establishment of the company’s new Security & Defence business unit, which is focused on expanding its logistics and surveying technologies into defense and security applications.

Under the “Build with Ukraine” initiative, Wingcopter is partnering with Ukrainian firm TAF Industries to make the new drone available to the country’s armed forces.

The program will draw on Wingcopter’s decade of experience developing and producing unmanned aircraft systems.
