The US Army is betting on a new hybrid unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) from BLADE to automate some of its most dangerous resupply missions.
Called Dire WOLF, the UGV is based on the WOLF-X robotic combat vehicle and is capable of transporting thousands of pounds of supplies.
It combines a high-output diesel-electric hybrid powertrain, pivot steering, and the ability to climb vertical obstacles up to 2 feet (0.6 meters).

To eliminate the risk of flat tires, the vehicle rides on Michelin’s non-pneumatic Tweels, which also help maintain mobility across debris-strewn terrain.
An onboard battery pack provides exportable power for frontline systems, including communications equipment, electronic warfare suites, and counter-drone systems.
Reducing Soldier Exposure
BLADE is one of five companies selected for the US Army’s Project Sustainment initiative, managed by the National Advanced Mobility Consortium (NAMC).
The program seeks to automate supply missions while reducing soldiers’ exposure to danger.
The company said it is putting forward the Dire WOLF as its offering, drawing on more than two decades of experience in UGV engineering and production.
