Teledyne FLIR Defense is sharpening vehicle sensing with three high-definition (HD) vision systems designed to give 360-degree situational awareness in challenging battlefield conditions.

The lineup includes the ThermoVision Situational Awareness HD (SA90-HD), ThermoVision Driver Vision HD (DV55-HD), and MilSight LIRC III.

“As battlefield hazards evolve, visibility in complex environments is critical to warfighter safety and success,” said Nicklas Friberg, vice president of surveillance systems at Teledyne FLIR Defense.

“Our newly upgraded vehicle vision systems give operators an advantage against… complex threats with some of the industry’s first integrated HD solutions designed specifically for military vehicle platforms.”

Seeing Around the Vehicle

The SA90-HD is a compact electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) imaging system built to deliver low-latency video to support faster reactions and vehicle navigation.

Combining thermal and color imagery, it helps crews detect threats in daylight, darkness, rain, and smoke.

A 90-degree field of view (FOV) provides close-range coverage while maintaining visibility despite turret or hull movement.

Built for the Driver’s View

The DV55-HD is a dual-sensor, front-facing camera optimized for 1280p EO/IR imaging across a 55-degree FOV.

Its sensors can be fused to enhance driver awareness and threat detection in daytime, low-light, and nighttime environments.

According to the company, the system is designed to improve visibility across varied terrain and weather conditions while helping crews identify potential hazards.

Long-Range Thermal Sight

Rounding out the portfolio is the MilSight LIRC III, a thermal imager with selectable 10-degree wide and two-degree narrow FOVs.

The system weighs less than 9 kilograms (20 pounds), measures 293 x 234 x 206 millimeters (29.3 x 23.4 x 20.6 centimeters), and incorporates advanced digital imaging capabilities.

Designed for infantry fighting vehicles, it supports ultra-low-latency video transmission over Ethernet and includes two-times and four-times electronic zoom.

The three systems were showcased at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris and are now available to military and commercial customers.
