California-based Silvus Technologies has released Spectrum Dominance 2.0, a firmware upgrade that adds new capabilities to its StreamCaster radios to survive contested environments.
Available as a software update, the upgrade breathes new life into existing systems and adds a modular set of features that can be tailored to specific mission needs.
Among the key enhancements are low probability of intercept/detection, anti-jam capabilities, and advanced threat protection, all of which can be turned on individually or stacked together as a layered defense.
It also includes Wake on Wireless, which lets radios in stealth mode receive data without transmitting, and Dual Frequency Link, which uses separate channels for transmitting and receiving to boost resilience against jamming.

The update, which applies to systems like the AN/PRC-169, supports handheld, mounted, and vehicle-integrated configurations.
Fighting Back Against Jamming
Spectrum Dominance 2.0 brings a suite of automated defenses built to keep communications running during electronic attacks.
One feature, MANET Power Control, automatically lowers transmission power to the minimum needed for connectivity, reducing the risk of detection.
Interference Avoidance continuously monitors the spectrum and shifts the network to a cleaner frequency when jamming is detected.
Interference Cancellation adds another layer of defense, using advanced signal processing to suppress unwanted noise without slowing down performance.
A protected waveform option rounds out the package, helping radios maintain their link even in the thick of electronic warfare.
“This upgrade reflects direct feedback from operations in contested environments,” said Jimi Henderson, Vice President of Sales at Silvus. “Our goal is to keep critical communications functioning despite electronic threats.”
