ParaZero Technologies is taking an unconventional approach to tackling drone threats with a new counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) designed to capture targets rather than destroy them.

Called DefendAir, the system uses a patented net launcher to safely intercept drones, minimizing collateral damage in populated areas.

It combines soft-kill and hard-kill elements in a multi-layered setup, letting operators adjust to different threats and mission scenarios.

DefendAir can be deployed via an interception drone, a fixed turret, or a hand-held net gun, depending on the required range and other operational needs.

The drone-mounted configuration offers the longest reach, operating autonomously over 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) and deploying nets ranging from 9 to 25 square meters (97 to 269 square feet) using radar-based detection.

For fixed-site defense, the stationary turret covers up to 100 meters (328 feet), launching nets between 16 to 100 square meters (172 to 1,076 square feet) while running autonomously with radar and optical tracking.

Both configurations can link to radar, command-and-control, and radio-frequency systems for integrated, coordinated defense.

Additionally, the hand-held net gun is manually operated, reaching up to 35 meters (115 feet), and can be fitted with a smart shooter sight for precise drone captures.

DefendAir in Action

ParaZero recently demonstrated DefendAir to senior NATO officers in Europe, showcasing its performance in realistic battlefield and critical infrastructure scenarios.

Attendees saw the system intercept simulated hostile drones with rapid deployment, precise targeting, and a strong interception success rate even in complex environments.

“This first European demonstration marks a significant milestone in our strategic expansion into NATO-aligned markets,” said Ariel Alon, CEO of ParaZero Technologies.

“Together with our new partner, we are now actively engaged in follow-up discussions and tender processes that we believe have the potential to accelerate the adoption of our technology across the region.”

ParaZero’s DefendAir has now secured its first order from a major Israeli defense entity, marking an early operational vote of confidence for net‑based C‑UAS capability amid evolving drone threats.
