Dismounted troops can now track one another’s locations across the battlefield in real time without relying on conventional GPS using SPARC AI’s “Overwatch Patrol” positioning application.

Built for areas where GPS is jammed, spoofed, degraded, or unavailable, the platform requires no additional hardware, software, external receiver, or antenna, allowing units to deploy it without adding equipment to a soldier’s load.

The application runs on military-grade phones through the Overwatch Positioning Network, the company’s cloud-based positioning service.

This architecture gives every member of a team a real-time map showing where personnel are as they walk, run, or hold position.

According to the company, commanders can create teams in the field using dynamically generated codes, allowing personnel to join or leave without administrative support or pre-configured devices.

SPARC AI introduced the application at the MSPO defense exhibition in Kielce, Poland.

“We unveiled Overwatch Patrol, a dismounted positioning application that delivers continuous, assured location to soldiers and security personnel in exactly those conditions,” the company stated.

Smarter Rally Points

Another key feature allows any team member to place a rally point on the map and instantly share it with the rest of the group, enabling everyone to navigate there independently.

In dismounted operations, rally points are traditionally briefed from a map before a patrol departs and then relayed by voice if circumstances change.

By turning rally points into live, shared map objects, commanders can designate new linkup locations after contact, during a casualty evacuation, or when a route becomes impassable.

SPARC AI is now exploring integrations with tactical radio providers to extend shared positioning data across soldiers’ existing communications networks.
