An Israeli startup is taking a clean-sheet approach to countering drone swarms, designing a next-gen air defense system purpose-built to defeat large-scale attacks.
Skapion said its technology is designed to engage entire drone swarms as a whole rather than one drone at a time, reducing the cost per intercept while addressing the growing scale of aerial threats.
Although the company has yet to disclose technical details, it said the system will feature a deployable, mobile design suited for protecting forces and critical infrastructure from evolving drone threats.

It is also expected to remain operational in signal-denied environments, giving forces greater flexibility in contested conditions.
To accelerate development, Skapion has secured $36 million in seed funding. The investment will support hiring, system development and testing, and collaboration with allied agencies in Israel, the US, and other countries.
Built by Air Defense Veterans
Skapion’s leadership team includes veterans of Israel’s air defense industry, led by Chief Architect Brig. Gen. Pini Yungman, who helped develop the Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems.
CEO Ido Bar-On has also worked extensively with defense organizations and government agencies around the world.
While headquartered in Washington, the company operates a research and development center in Ramat Gan, Israel, where it is expanding its workforce in electronics, software, autonomy, and aerospace.
