Thomas Global Systems has completed delivery of its M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 Immersive Tactical Trainer (M1A2 ITT) to the Australian Army, marking it as the world’s “only full-crew simulator” for the platform.

Built at the company’s New South Wales facility, the ITT recreates the interior of an Abrams tank, matching the sophistication and functionality of modern flight simulators.

It gives soldiers gunnery, driver, and tactical training in combat-like environments, scaling from individual crew preparation to full squadron-level exercises. Flexible modes also let instructors run onboard lessons or link into networked scenarios.

By moving training into a virtual space, the army can trim operating costs, ease logistical burdens, and lessen the environmental footprint of actual tank training.

“The M1A2 ITT is the world’s most advanced Abrams training system, providing Australian soldiers with the best possible preparation for the demands of modern armored warfare,” said Angus Hutchinson, CEO of Thomas Global Systems.

“The delivery of these systems marks a significant milestone in our partnership with the Australian Army, and we are honoured by the trust they have placed in us.”

Delivery to Global Push

The rollout supports Australia’s LAND 907 program, which involves acquisition of 75 Abrams SEPv3 main battle tanks to modernize its force.

Canberra has invested about 60 million Australian dollars ($40 million) in homegrown simulation capability, supporting dozens of jobs nationwide.

According to the Australian defense ministry, 16 M1A2 ITTs have been delivered to date, including classroom and containerized variants that can be transported by land, air, or sea.

Sustainment will flow through a sovereign Australian supply chain, drawing in firms like Global Defence Solutions, Rockpress, Systematiq, and Thales Australia.

With delivery complete, Thomas Global is now turning to international markets, aiming to offer the M1A2 ITT beyond Australia.
