A new counter-drone tool from Israeli firms Innoviz Technologies and Cogniteam is designed for more accurate detection and classification of airborne threats in demanding environments.
The system integrates Innoviz’s 3D Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology with Cogniteam’s AI-powered perception software, including its AI-driven 3D analytics engine.
This combination reportedly improves threat recognition by analyzing an object’s shape, motion, flight behavior, and three-dimensional characteristics.
The resulting data could then help operators distinguish drones from birds or other objects, give a clearer picture of potential threats, and reduce false alarms.

The module can be integrated into existing security architectures to support broader counter-drone ecosystems for system integrators, defense contractors, and security providers.

“Our advanced analytics, combined with Innoviz’s LiDAR, deliver a level of detection accuracy and classification reliability that is difficult to achieve with conventional sensing.”
Shaped by Operational Experience
The initiative builds on more than a year of operational use of Cogniteam’s ClearZone platform together with Innoviz’ LiDARs across perimeter protection, critical infrastructure security, and border surveillance missions.

These deployments validated the use of high-resolution 3D LiDAR for security missions where accurate target recognition and minimizing false alarms are critical.
By combining technologies from both companies, the system is intended to support future counter-drone operations and critical infrastructure protection.
