Light- to medium-class unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) could soon gain a more compact propulsion option with US firm ePropelled introducing its new SKYLARK Series.

The integrated propulsion system combines the electric motor and controller into a single unit, reducing weight while freeing up space for larger payloads.

It also incorporates ePConnect, the company’s centralized propulsion management platform, to support integration across its motors, controllers, and intelligent power systems.

According to ePropelled, the design simplifies system integration, reduces commissioning time, improves operator control, and enhances mission reliability.

Built on the company’s eP Unified Architecture, SKYLARK also reportedly meets US military cybersecurity requirements for deployment in Europe and NATO member countries.

“By combining propulsion and intelligent control within a unified architecture, we are helping our customers achieve greater operational effectiveness while simplifying system integration,” said Dean Marcarelli, chief commercial officer of ePropelled.

“This is about delivering real capability where it matters most and putting reliable, mission-ready capability into the field, faster.”

Built for Faster Production

SKYLARK was developed to support the growing demand for modular UAV designs that can be assembled quickly and produced at scale for defense, industrial, and commercial applications.

By integrating key propulsion components, the system reduces the amount of wiring and the number of connections required during assembly, helping shorten build times and increase production output.

“We are seeing a clear shift toward the need to scale production of more capable UAV platforms without compromising reliability, performance, and mission effectiveness,” Marcarelli added.

“SKYLARK has been engineered specifically to meet those requirements, delivering ePropelled’s renowned power, endurance, and integrated control solutions in a compact unit for efficient and fast assembly.”

The system was showcased at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 in the UK.
