Safran Electronics & Defense is launching a new counter-drone system that brings together three of its core technologies in one platform.
Dubbed “Land OmniGuard,” the system is designed for integration on land vehicles, enabling passive surveillance and tracking while maintaining image transmission on the go.
The system uses Safran’s VAMPIR NG sensor to detect potential threats without emitting any signal.
Once a threat is identified, the PASEO system takes over for identification and tracking, while AI supports real-time classification of targets.

PASEO can also recommend kinetic or electronic responses, streamlining the decision-making process.
The GEONYX inertial navigation system provides precise real-time positioning of both the platform and detected targets, maintaining operational continuity even in GNSS-denied environments or when communications are disrupted.
‘Reaching a New Milestone’
Safran said the new counter-drone solution draws on its expertise in optronics, AI, and navigation, combining multiple combat-proven technologies into a single system for European armed forces.
“With Land OmniGuard, we are reaching a new milestone in protecting deployed forces: our system offers a fully integrated, end-to-end solution, from passive threat detection to neutralization,” said Alexandre Ziegler, Safran Defense Global Business Unit Head.
“This sovereign, high-performance, and responsive solution effectively addresses the diversity and unpredictability of today’s threats.”
Safran confirmed that a globally recognized air defense customer has placed an initial order for Land OmniGuard, though the company did not disclose the identity of the buyer.
