UK-based marine engineering firm ScaffFloat has launched the MilFloat, a multi-role floating system built for rapid deployment and adaptable military use.
The 16-meter by 6.4-meter (52-foot by 21-foot) self-propelled platform can be shipped in standard containers or moved by flatbed trailers. It can haul up to 30 tonnes (66,138 pounds) and stay afloat even under direct fire.
In company-provided imagery, the MilFloat is shown carrying a CVT FV103 Spartan armored personnel carrier, highlighting its heavy-lift capability.

Designed for versatility, the platform can support missions from wet gap crossings and floating bridges to disaster relief, supply runs, and naval port maintenance.
“We have successfully challenged conventional industry practices by creating a versatile, modular marine toolkit for the field,” said Toby Budd, Founder and Managing Director of ScaffFloat.
“MilFloat is more than just a pontoon; it’s a modular system that can be built entirely by hand with minimal training.”
Building on Proven Experience
ScaffFloat has worked with the British Navy, Babcock, BAE Systems, AECOM, and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, providing a wide range of marine platforms.
Its portfolio spans pontoons, rafts, barges, and diving and unexploded ordnance tools.
The MilFloat was showcased at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) in London, held September 9–12.
