A Slovenian company is combining a 20mm Gatling gun and laser-guided missiles in a single air defense system designed to counter small drones.
Ljubljana-based Valhalla Turrets said the latest version of its Skythunder system could protect critical sites from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The system features the M197 three-barrel automatic cannon from US defense firm General Dynamics, capable of firing up to 1,500 rounds per minute.
Its 70mm guided munitions are designed to engage targets at longer ranges, while automated detection and tracking capabilities help the system identify and follow threats.

Valhalla Turrets also claims Skythunder offers 360-degree radar coverage and can integrate into wider, multilayered air defense networks, giving it a modular approach to countering drone swarms.
Sporting Other Weapon Systems
Another version, called Skythunder 300, was unveiled earlier this year at the 2026 Eurosatory exhibition.
Rather than a Gatling gun, it features a Bushmaster 30mm automatic cannon from Northrop Grumman alongside a separate turret armed with a six-barrel machine gun.
The cannon is designed to engage larger drone systems at distances of up to 2.5 kilometers (1.6 miles), while the machine gun provides a closer-range defense option at up to 1 kilometer (0.6 miles).
Reports also indicate that Skythunder 300 incorporates three Hensoldt radars to provide 360-degree airspace surveillance.
