For the first time, Ukraine will be fielding a guided aerial bomb built entirely on home soil.

The system was developed over a 17-month period by Ukrainian engineers working with the state-backed Brave1 defense technology platform.

Reportedly capable of carrying a 250-kilogram (551-pound) warhead, the weapon is intended to reshape how Ukraine conducts long-range precision strikes.

It is designed to engage fortified positions, command posts, and other high-value targets deep beyond the launch point.

According to Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, pilots are already training with the system and adapting it for use in operational conditions.

An initial experimental batch has also been delivered to the Ministry of Defense.

A Ukrainian Solution for Ukrainian Forces

The guided bomb reflects Ukraine’s broader push to field more locally developed battlefield technologies.

Beyond strengthening the armed forces, the approach is intended to build systems tailored to operational requirements on the ground.

It could also ensure faster delivery to troops by reducing supply chain bottlenecks associated with reliance on foreign systems.

“Soon, [the Ukrainian guided bomb] will work on enemy targets. We scale solutions that increase range and accuracy and change the rules of modern warfare,” Fedorov said.
