Estonian-Croatian defense startup Vegvisir has unveiled its Virtual Command Station at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference 2025 in the United Arab Emirates.

Designed for rapid deployment, the compact command and control (C2) station comprises head-mounted virtual screens, the Vegvisir Visor AR headset, the Vegvisir Mission Grip, and a mission computer.

This setup makes it ideal for use in mobile, temporary, and limited operational spaces, such as armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, where traditional C2 stations are impractical.

The Virtual Command Station — a highly mobile, low-footprint system — was developed by Vegvisir with the Estonian Defence Forces, drawing lessons from the war in Ukraine.

Enhanced Situational Awareness

The Virtual Command Station supports multi-user collaboration and integrates real-time data from battle management systems, sensors, and unmanned systems to enhance warfighters’ situational awareness.

It combines the company’s previous systems to work as one: Vegvisir Core provides a see-through-armor capability for manned platforms, while Vegvisir Remote extends the same first-person view capability to unmanned and optionally manned systems.

“Now, with the Vegvisir Virtual Command Station, we are advancing fleet management and multi-domain integration by seamlessly fusing different data streams,” said company CEO Ingvar Pärnamäe.

System Devices

Warfighters wear the Vegvisir Visor AR headset, which weighs 120 grams (4.2 ounce), as part of the command station.

Each eye shows stereo displays with full HD resolution, and with reduced latency and motion blur due to its up to 120Hz refresh rate.

For comfort, it features a diopter adjustment so users can adjust the display focus.

Its lenses are made with ANSI Z87.1-compliant material for hazard protection and UVA, UVB, and UVC ray blockers, in addition to anti-fog and anti-scratch coating.

Apart from the headset, the Virtual Command Station also integrates with the Vegvisir Mission Grip, a controller featuring an ergonomic and ambidextrous design that can support additional sensors and system extensions.
