France is getting a fresh boost in its electronic warfare capabilities as the French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) ordered a next-gen radar interceptor from Eviden.
Known as ELIT AI, the system is an electronic intelligence (ELINT) sensor that integrates artificial intelligence to deliver real-time situational awareness and faster signal interpretation.
Developed in collaboration with Avantix, ELIT AI is designed to detect, analyze, and identify complex signal environments while also supporting broader signals intelligence missions.
Its architecture combines scalable hardware and software components, enabling integration across a wide range of platforms and operational settings.
The system is intended to address the growing challenge of identifying advanced waveforms, including low-probability-of-intercept emissions that can vary in power and operating patterns to avoid detection.

“The ELIT AI sensor … illustrates our ability to innovate and push the limits of interception and analysis as new radar models emerge and become increasingly stealthy and sophisticated,” said Bernard Payer, director of mission-critical systems at Eviden.
“We are particularly proud of its adoption by the [DGA]. We see this as a testament to the confidence of the major national defense contractors in our signals intelligence expertise.”
Core Features
ELIT AI integrates adaptive software-defined radio technology with sovereign AI capabilities developed through Eviden’s in-house research and development efforts.
It offers configurable functions including intelligent scanning, real-time tactical visualization, automated recording triggers, and detailed technical analysis for post-mission review.
The system also features enhanced sensitivity for extended detection range, alongside wideband coverage to improve responsiveness across diverse signal conditions.
Eviden described ELIT AI as a comprehensive solution aimed at improving operational efficiency and supporting military cyber and electromagnetic operations.
