The Czech Republic’s airspace could soon see more integrated protection following TRL Drones’ development of a new Ground Control Station (GCS) for managing multi-tiered counter-drone operations.
The system is built around centralized control and high automation, forming a core component of a layered air defense approach while reducing operator workload.
“Our system is unique in that it can create a functional kinetic layer,” said Jiří Janoušek, head of development at TRL Drones.
“If the effectiveness of electronic jamming is limited, the system switches to physical threat neutralization mode.”

According to the company, a single operator can oversee the protection of critical infrastructure across wide areas using autonomous asset management, decision-support software, and secure cloud-based coordination.
Rather than relying on manual control of individual engagements, the GCS continuously assesses threats, assigns defensive assets, and recommends responses in real time.
Smart Interception
The GCS fuses data from radar networks, air defense assets, radio frequency sensors, and optical systems into a single operational picture, eliminating duplicate or conflicting tracks.
Detected objects are then assessed against a reference database of known drone types, with their performance profiles, flight behavior, and characteristics analyzed in real time.

This enables automated algorithms to classify incoming drones, estimate impact probabilities, predict flight trajectories, and prioritize threats without manual intervention.
The system is also designed to adjust dynamically to evasive drone maneuvers, continuously refining interception paths to maximize hit probability while reducing collateral risk.
In hard-kill mode, the GCS selects the most suitable interceptor drones based on range, battery status, and speed, deploying a defensive swarm to carry out physical neutralization.
