Australian companies Aspen Medical and BlueRoom Simulations have partnered to introduce mixed reality (MR) technology for defense healthcare training.
The platform combines Aspen Medical’s expertise in training and development techniques with BlueRoom’s flagship MR Simulation technology designed specifically for medic and first responder competency programs.
The package will deliver practices on semi-complex procedures, including intravenous cannulation, airway management, and other surgical interventions.
The device mimics realistic medical equipment as well as high-risk scenarios such as aircraft and combat zones to ensure lifelike practices in a controlled environment.
The MR Simulation eliminates the need for handheld controllers as it allows students to use their own hands to interact with the virtual space.
“We are thrilled to sign this agreement with Aspen Medical, another innovative Australian company, that we know will strengthen military medical training capability around the world,” BlueRoom CEO Benjamin Krynski stated.
“Aspen Medical … will complement this initiative to bring our cutting edge capability to the end user.”
‘Bridging Gaps’
According to Aspen, the MR Simulation suite is expected to “refine critical skills and maintain operational readiness in immersive, realistic scenarios, with significant benefits in cost, productivity, and capability enhancement” for its future users.
“Training in real-world military environments can be costly and logistically challenging,” Aspen Medical Chief Partnerships Officer Al Martin explained.
“Our collaboration with BlueRoom allows us to bridge that gap, offering high-fidelity, scenario-based training that enhances medical competencies in a highly efficient and scalable way.”
“This technology allows military medics and healthcare professionals to sharpen their skills in environments that closely replicate real-world conditions, preparing them to operate effectively under pressure.”
