Ukrainian soldiers are once again counting on virtual training grounds to boost resilience against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
The country’s defense ministry recently approved the new Chaika and Chaika-M electronic simulators for official use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Also known as Flyswatter, the tools are designed to train soldiers in counter-drone tactics and familiarize them with man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) and other weapons like the Stinger and M2 machine guns.

Sessions replicate real combat scenarios, with hostile drones simulated at varying altitudes, distances, and speeds.
This approach lets troops evaluate weapon effectiveness against Shahed, Lancet, and first person-view drones — all without leaving the room.
Next-Gen Training
Flyswatter joins Duel as another virtual simulator that prepares soldiers for drone engagements without stepping onto a live battlefield.
Like Chaika, Duel pits troops in “drone-against-man” digital battles to mirror real UAV encounters.
These virtual simulators are meant to help the armed forces strengthen capabilities while conserving ammunition, reducing operational costs, and improving readiness.
