QinetiQ is taking a pivotal role in developing the US Army’s next-gen target acquisition system.

The company announced it has been tapped to participate in a multi-phase prototyping effort for the Future Advanced Long-range Common Optical/Netted-fires Sensor (FALCONS) system.

FALCONS is poised to revolutionize the US Army’s battlefield sensing capabilities, replacing the existing Long-Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System.

As part of its involvement, QinetiQ will lead key systems integration, collaborating with top suppliers to fuse cutting-edge tech like AI-powered target recognition and multi-spectrum sensing.

“QinetiQ brings deep expertise in complex systems integration and a thorough understanding of soldier needs to the FALCONS program,” executive vice president Jonathan Riksen noted.

‘Significant Advancement’

FALCONS promises breakthrough target detection and identification in all weather conditions.

It is a game-changer in military sensor tech, leveraging AI and semi-autonomous capabilities to streamline soldier workload and supercharge battlefield performance.

With a range surpassing enemy weapon systems, FALCONS is poised to give warfighters a decisive advantage on the battlefield.

QinetiQ intends to leverage its vast experience in sensor integration and data management to ensure flawless system interoperability across complex battlefield networks.

“The company will apply lessons learned from previous successful Army programs to accelerate FALCONS development and deployment, ensuring the system meets both current and emerging battlefield requirements,” QinetiQ stated.
