Nigeria is taking military preparedness to a new level with the inauguration of its “ultra-modern” wargaming hub.
Built under the vision of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the center is designed around modern operational concepts to improve decision-making in real combat scenarios.
The hub will use advanced simulations to train forces in joint planning and sharpen mission-critical judgment, serving both as a training school for the Nigerian Army and the main exercise site for the Department of Land Warfare.

“It will provide a hub for tactical and operational planning exercises, helping officers sharpen critical thinking and adversary-focused planning skills,” Shaibu said, as quoted by The Nation.
The facility is said to align with the army’s goal of becoming a more adaptable and resilient force, underscoring the priority of investing in modern training infrastructure as battlefield threats evolve.
Preparing for Any Conflict
Recent tensions in West Africa, including an attempted coup in Benin, highlight the importance of readiness in the military.
Nigeria was one of the countries in the region to send troops and warplanes to Benin in support of the government.
The new wargaming hub could enhance the Nigerian Army’s ability to prepare for similar crises in the future.
It reportedly provides a strategic boost to training capacity, producing cadets and officers ready to respond to the challenges of modern battlefields.
Shaibu has urged students and military officers to put the facility to “maximum use,” noting that substantial resources will support its operations.
