L3Harris Technologies has devised a way to ensure troops dispersed across long distances remain connected, unveiling a new mobile solution that can reportedly keep working even when parts fail.
The MC-3000I Mobile Command Intercom is designed to relay intelligible voice communications in confined vehicle environments, where audio clarity can be critical to mission execution.
It is built for interoperability with the company’s Falcon radios and other tactical systems, allowing it to link multiple platforms and help coordinate widely dispersed teams.
At its core, the system uses a distributed architecture in which functions are spread across multiple components, enabling continued operation even if individual elements fail.

“The Mobile Command Intercom uses a fully networked yet decentralized system without a single point of failure,” L3Harris Product Management Senior Manager Josh Bates said.
“This design reduces vulnerabilities and lowers both the cost of the system and its SWaP (size, weight, and power), making it an ideal capability for the small-vehicle market.”
‘Intuitive’ Control Stations
Operators can switch between two different stations depending on mission needs. One is a keypad-display station supporting call management and radio control, while the other uses a rotary interface for faster operation in high-pressure scenarios.
Both are designed for intuitive use, reducing training demands and allowing troops to focus on mission tasks.
The system also includes a blackout mode and a night-vision-compatible interface for low-signature operations.
Single Interface Management
The MC-3000I is built around a Configuration Programming Application that lets users manage and reconfigure intercom and radio systems through a single interface.
This is intended to simplify communications management across a system’s lifecycle and across different vehicle types and mission profiles.
“From smaller tactical vehicles to larger command formations, the system delivers standardized performance without adding unnecessary SWaP burden,” Bates stressed.
The MC-3000I is currently available for order, with deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
