KNDS France is rolling out a drone functions kit and mesh radio network that transform land-based and amphibious vehicles into protected, networked drone hubs.

The kit fits into a 2.5-meter (8.2-foot) compartment and can support up to eight reconnaissance or attack drones, along with the computing and cooling equipment they need.

Troops can deploy, control, and recover drones without ever leaving the safety of their vehicle’s armor, keeping operators protected in high-risk missions.

Developed entirely with internal funding, the kit reflects KNDS France’s push to deliver sovereign, plug-and-play upgrades that fit across multiple vehicle types.

Smart Mesh Connectivity

To coordinate multiple drones at once, KNDS partnered with SIMPULSE to create a mesh network linking drones, robots, and operators through a software-defined radio waveform.

The network uses frequency hopping and resilient signal technology to maintain communications even in jammed, urban, or electronically contested environments.

According to the company, the system is particularly suited for counter-drone operations and for keeping links stable when communications are under threat.

Combined, the drone kit and mesh network give units a modular and flexible way to operate networked drones from heavy armored vehicles or lighter amphibious platforms, turning them into mobile command centers in contested battlefields.
