India is advancing its long-range strike capabilities with Project KAL, a new one-way attack drone designed for precision engagements into adversary territory.
Developed by IG Defence, the platform is reported to have a range of up to 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) and endurance of three to five hours, enabling extended reach in contested environments.
Built to carry explosive warheads, Project KAL is intended to target high-value assets such as logistics hubs, radar sites, and military infrastructure.
While technical details remain largely undisclosed, images released by the company show a tailless airframe marked with the word “KAL” on its wings.
It also sports a delta-wing design, suggesting a focus on aerodynamic efficiency, stealth, and high-speed strike capability.

“Across modern conflicts, long-range unmanned strike platforms are redefining strategic operations with precision, range, and cost-effective deployment,” the company stated.
“At IG Defence, we believe India must build indigenous capabilities in this emerging category.”
Domestic Edge
The initiative is seen as a counterpart to Iran’s Shahed-class drones, which are known for their long-range strike capability and operational impact in multiple conflict zones.
Project KAL is expected to bolster India’s unmanned firepower while reinforcing its growing footprint in advanced defense tech.
This development also underscores the country’s push for self-reliance in defense, emphasizing homegrown design and manufacturing to reduce dependence on imported systems.
