US-based Harbinger Praesidia is moving deeper into unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) development with a new hybrid-electric platform capable of supplying up to 350 kilowatts of external power in hard-to-access environments.

The new UGV comes in three wheelbase configurations: 158 inches (401 centimeters), 178 inches (452 centimeters), and 208 inches (528 centimeters).

It has a maximum speed of 65 miles (105 kilometers) per hour and a range of 500 miles (805 kilometers) in hybrid mode and 105 miles (169 kilometers) in fully electric operation.

With a payload capacity of up to 18,000 pounds (8,165 kilograms), each configuration supports a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 26,000 pounds (11,793 kilograms).

It is also powered by a hybrid system combining an electric motor with a compact gasoline engine and generator, which can recharge the batteries or supply external power.

The battery system serves both as a propulsion source and onboard energy storage, enabling silent electric operation or stationary power delivery to external equipment.

The company said performance is maintained across temperatures ranging from minus 30 degrees Celsius (minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit) to 55 degrees Celsius (131 degrees Fahrenheit).

It also integrates steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and accel-by-wire systems, supported by six cameras that provide 360-degree situational awareness.

Built for Flexible Missions

To support covert operations, the vehicle incorporates several advanced features, including a stealth mode that reduces its thermal and acoustic signature.

It also supports remote control and teleoperation for key functions such as pallet handling, power export, and liftgate operation.

For communications, it uses dual-network connectivity via radio and satellite systems to maintain resilient links in contested environments.

The platform is further enhanced by its power management system and range-extending capability, ensuring continuous energy availability whether in motion or stationary.

“The government needs robust vehicles that can support a wide range of use cases without forcing operators to compromise on payload, range, exportable power or durability,” said John Harris, co-founder and chief executive officer of Harbinger.

“Our American-designed, engineered, and assembled vehicles fulfill this need while supporting domestic manufacturing capacity… At the same time, these unmanned vehicles are engineered to help keep soldiers out of harm’s way without compromising on performance.”
