EOS Defense Systems has offered a first look at how its R400 remote weapon system could operate at sea, unveiling its maiden integration into an unmanned surface vessel (USV).

During Sea-Air-Space 2026, the weapon was demonstrated aboard BlackSea Technologies’ “Chaser” USV, a newly unveiled naval platform designed to support various maritime missions.

The R400 weapon served as the Chaser’s main gun system, joined by a missile launcher from Lockheed Martin, Echodyne radars, and a suite of perception camera systems from Canadian firm Current.

According to the company, the demo highlights how quickly the R400 can be adapted to new platforms, with the integration moving from concept to live testing within weeks.

It also marked a rare combination of satellite-enabled remote weapon operation, maritime integration, and autonomous deployment within a single platform, helping position Chaser as a lethal tool for naval forces.

Remote Firepower at Sea

The R400 weighs under 400 kilograms (882 pounds) and packs the firepower of a 30mm cannon.

Designed for flexible configurations, it can be fitted with one or two weapons, which are mounted and operated remotely through the system.

A built-in stabilization tool also maintains firing accuracy at distances of up to 2 kilometers (1.2 miles), even while the host platform is in motion.

“The R400 enables the operator to engage targets from ground targets to small to medium UAS (unmanned aerial system) and employ weapons to their maximum range,” EOS stated.
